I'm probally not getting a thing... Maybe I'll go get myself some books and some new pants...

Ha, I was right!!!

Ummm, christian people you do know Christ was born sometime in the spring, right? The only reason that his birth is celebrated on this day was because the church of old wanted to subvert the pagans, and putting Jesus’ birth on the same day as the pagan’s winter solstice celebration was just one of many methods. Same with Easter, it was a fertility celebration ergo the egg and the bunnies (I think that one was fairly obvious though).

edit: David don’t worry about Jesus, most Christians (not all!) don’t think about Him unless they’re about to die, and today is the least likely day most of them would think about Him. I’m Buddhist as well, but everyone else in my house is Christian…

excert from sumthing iono but the recieving of presents is just an reactment of the 3 wise men who came baring gift btw where it say that jesus was born in the spring?

Yeah, really... Altough the reason we celebrate it on the 25 of December is that the 25 is as close as people know to be the the birthday of Jesus... And David please watch your language... I'm not trying to be your mother or something, but just please... If you know what I mean...

yes...miang is right about how jesus was most likely born in the spring...and how back in the time of emperor constantine they made the 25th the official day to celebrate the birth of the Lord...however....the point isnt what day we celebrate this event...the purpose is to remember who this Jesus is and why he came....and why did he come? he came to die on a cross....as was prophesized in the old testament....he came to pay for each persons sins...so that we may be able to spend eternity in heaven....he died a gruesome and horrible death (if u have seen the passion u get the idea) to save u....now if ur reading this and u say to urself "i dont care about this guy's religious crap, so it has nothing to do with me" well all i can say is that um....well....when u stand before the Father after u die what will u respond when he asks you, "what have u done with my son?" did u accept him or not? choice is yours...

wow im so glad someone brought this up....hehe hope ppl actually read this ^_^ oh i have more to say if u have questions....wont deal with mindless flaming tho

Shadow: The Hedgehog (GameCube)
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS)
Office Space: Collector's Edition (now I have a Red Stapler )
Black 30GB Video iPod (they arent the greatest, but it was on sale)

My parents told me I was getting them, but were all "well, you still can't use them until Christmas" in a mocking way

Beyond that, probably money or something.

and yes, Christmas is not accurate for Christ's birth. It was, in fact, originally a pagan ceremony worshipping the Sun God or something of that sort, so Christians held a holiday, then, too. (Taking Theology makes you learn these things... it sucks).

Absolutely jack squat. I don't really care about X-mas, but I do care about my b-day. Which is on 30th of December? I think so!
