PS3 is going to have linux here R some info on it
Terra Soft Solutions, a privately held corporation who deals with Yellow Dog Linux OS on 970, POWER5, and Cell based systems confirmed that their newest version of YD (Yellow Dog), version 5.0, will be compatible with the PlayStation 3.
Terrs Soft also states that all the available applications included in the previous version of Yellow Dog Linux, v4.1, will be included in v5.0 along with newer unannounced applications. It has yet to be confirmed if the PS3 will sport these programs but if it does, here is a list of what you can expect:
- mol : Virtual machine capable of running Mac OS and Mac OS X
- mozilla : Web browser and mail reader
- squirrelmail : SquirrelMail webmail client
- festival : A free speech synthesizer
- gphoto2 : Software for accessing digital cameras
