To Haprish

I had to include 'console,' meaning XBOX stuff is stufffed in here, since they do make computer games.

HL2 needs to have a 1.5 and higher CPU for minimal requirments, the recomend requirments for HL 2 is a 2.4 Ghz, but the Xbox or Xbox 2 will have nothing that coiuld support that so Valve and any other companys are really trying to cut back on the graphics just for Xbox.

The Xbox2 is codename Xenon at due time.

This is what has been leaked out for the new xbox2 its on white paper but might be able to change later.
The SPU includes three independent processors (cores) on a single die. Each core runs at 3.5+ GHz. The CPU can ussiue two instructions per clock cycle per core. At peak the Performance, Xenon can handle 21 billion instructions per second.

The System has a custom 500+ MHz ATI graphics processer. The Xenon grpahics architecture is a unique design that implements a superset of Direct3D verison 9. (The graphics chip is being done by ATI clocking in at a rumored 500MHz with 10MB of dedicated EDRAM.) and will run games with the resolution of a high-definition TV.

256+ MB of unified memory, equally accessible to both the GPU and CPU. Supports multiple high-definition formats up through 1080i, plus VGA output.

The Xenon CPU can process and encode hundreds of audio channels with the sophisticated per-voice and global effects. The system also contains a key hardware component for audio - XMA decompression.

At the time of this writing, the decision to include a built-in hard disk in every Xenon console has not been made. If a hard disk is not included in every console, it will certainly be available as an intergarted add-on component.

There is more but it would be way to long to post it here i just put up the specs it has rumored.

Post your remark please about it not being able to handle HL2 ;)

dude i was talking about it not working on the Xbox not the 2nd one, geez, but yea, ur forcing me to get the specs for everything

Description
Valve's Gabe Newell has posted on the HL2 Fallout forums and has revealed what the full hardware requirements will be for H-L 2. Information which comes right on time, if we are to believe the much talked about end-of-summer 2004 release date.

According to Mr. Newell then, the minimum machine specs for decent performance on H-L 2 will be a 1.2GHz CPU with 256MB RAM, Win 98/ME/2000/XP and a DirectX 7 capable graphics card. As you well realise such a box would not do justice to the various graphical wonders of the game so Mr. Newell was quick to add the recommended system specs which are as follows: a 2.4 GHz CPU with 512MB RAM, Windows 2000/XP and a DirectX 9 graphics card.

What Mr. Newell does not clarify is how the XBox version will differ since Microsoft's box does not reach the optimal hardware requirement and in some instances even fails to meet the minimum requirements. How will the limited, 64 MB DDR 200MHz, memory impact the game and how will Valve respond in order to make H-L 2 playable on XBox? Or how will the 733 MHz CPU affect gameplay. All perfectly logical questions which will need a great dose of Valve magic and some eye-candy cutbacks, to be resolved.

plus those so called "specs" arnt real and out of date
