Recently an article on the BBC website has pointed out that there are too many technological acronyms and in the end, they scare off consumers.
I find this utmostly humorous as well as true. I think we should all RTFM for our OS and sync our RSS feeds and IPTV/PVR captures on our WAP-secured PDAs (see how confusing and annoying that was, now?)

OS - Operating System
RSS - Resource Service Systems
IPTV/PVR - Internet Personal TeleVision / Personal Video Recording
WAP - Wide-Area Provider
PDA - Personal Digital Assistant

I agree. It's not only limited to the tech world either. I find it a bit annoying when people use acronyms in every day life. Or shorten words that shouldn't be shortened.
This might prove to be a helpful site for people who need help figuring out what certain acronyms stand for. They have a searchable database which takes out the guesswork.
I'm all for the use of acronyms to speed things along, however that article is correct in saying that it's getting a bit out of hand.
