would the router be a proble for people to connect to their own servers?
i am thinking about making a server (yes, i know for the 4th time, but this time i know what i'm doing and that's the scary part! :lol: ) anywise, the computer i was going to have it on does NOT get the internet via a router (in est it gets the inter net from the modem directly). it occured to me that the router might be forwording the ports you need to accsess your own server. therefore, scince i am not using a router, would i be able to connect?

depends why u cant connect, if it causes major lag or your server to crash its because of an input/output error, your sending out data from your server and yourself 2> to yourself 1 and it causes problems, fixable using a input/output regulator (google it)

that would be either your router, check firewall settings and read a faq about "forwarding ports" or you typed in something wrong for your char ip, which is under lan_athena, i believe. I had that problem before, just don't remember which i did to fix it.
