v 2.0
REMEMBER!!!: You are NOT allowed to change NPCs (besides their location), Starting Zeny, or EXP Rates.
You are allowed to change the MOTD.txt, though.
Step 1. Obtain the server package by downloading the newest one from here.
Step 2. Extract it using WinRAR to any directory (preferrably one you can memorize like C:\qrROServer)
Step 3. Download and install MySQL from MySQL.com. MySQL 4.1 has recently been released and can be downloaded from these mirrors: http://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQ ... ck#mirrors
Step 4. Run the MySQL installer and use all of the default attributes, besides making a MySQL.com account - you don't need to do that since you have no need to. Eventually, you will be asked to create a root admin password. Make sure you remember this password. It will be, from now on, referenced to as your "MySQL password." (Make sure not to check "allow remote connections in root user" or whatever it says)
Step 5. Now, we will install MySQL Control Center. This will help greatly with managing your server - believe me on this. Mirrors to this can be found here: http://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQ ... /from/pick
Install and run this program. It will popup with a dialog box asking for you to configure it; here is how:
Name: Doesn't matter; you can name it anything you want.
Host Name: localhost
User Name: root
Password: The MySQL Password you used in Step 4.
After this, hit 'ok' and it'll bring you to the MySQL Control Center's main window.
Right-click on your new (and only) MySQL server listed on the left and select Conncet (if you are already connected, it'll list Disconnect).
Afterwards, hit the "SQL" button at the top of the window (next to the "refresh" button).
Step 6. Find where you extracted all of your qrRO Server files to and open the MySQL.sql file. Copy the entire contents of this file (easiest way is hitting CTRL + A and then copying). Then, paste all of it into the Query Window now being shown in MySQL Control Center. Once this has been done, hit the Exclaimation Mark Button ("!") at the top - this will run the query and create all of the databases and tables you will need.
Step 7. Now that your databases are all setup and fine, you can head onto configuring the actual server ~ go to where you extracted the server files and go into the "conf" folder. This is where all the configuration files are, of course.
Step 8. Open the "inter_athena.conf" file. All you have to do in this file is replace the words MYSQL_PASSWORD with whatever your MySQL password was that you used in Step 4. Afterwards, save and close the file.
Step 9. Open the "char_athena.conf" file and "map_athena.conf" file. Replace all occurances of the words WAN_IP with whatever your WAN IP is (if you are unsure of what it is, direct your browser to www.whatismyip.com or www.ipchicken.com). You will also replace SERVER_NAME in char_athena with whatever your server name will be (normally a Chrono Trigger character name).
Step 10. For this step, you will have to contact me for a server-only username and password. Keep these safeguarded - just do so. You will replace USERNAME with your server's username in both files, and replace PASSWORD with your server's password, also in both files. Save both files and close them.
Step 11. Just run start_servers.bat and your server should be up and running fine! (Yep, no need to have even the data or sdata GRF files on the hosting PC this time around - i provided them all!
)
Routers:
If you have a router, you may have to do additional configuring - you must forward the ports 6900, 5121 and 6121 to the PC you are hosting the server on. If you go here, it will assist you in forwarding the ports on your router (just find the model type in its large list!)
