It's almost worse than shoplifting, 'cause the person who actually spends hard-earned money on it just wasted 50 bucks or so(unless the store takes it back or they use a cd key generator). So you're not only screwing the store, you're screwing the store AND you're screwing the guy that buys the game

Well then it would be the stores fault for letting someone steal there stuff. And the guy that bought the game would probably not ever come there to buy another product in the store so, there just hurting there selves if there dumb enough to let someone do such a thing.

The thing that happens is that most stores will give you a new copy of the game and send the original back to the company they got it from and what happens is that they try and see who is using the cd key and they will ban it from ever being used also since they know your ip they can get your info from your isp and they can mail you a letter or a bill for what you have done also they can send the feds. But i do know the person that pays for the game will be able to get him self a new copy and if the store does that then just means they made a happy customer and he will shop there more often.

ok people what you guys are saying is true but most companys what they are doing like EA games is that each game is encoded so its very hard to copy the games and you cant play with it online and i hear most game companys are going to to start doing the same thing so in about 1 or 2 years we dont have to worry about it and about the IP thats just crap cause your IP changes every day so its very hard to keep up with it and the feds dont give a shit about it cause i know a ex FBI agent and he told me that they dont give a shit about it and same goes for the downloading music crap too they only get in to it if the artis or company start yelling about it and it has to be a big star or big company anyway i might say some more later tho gewting bored of writing so cya

IP (Internet Protocol)
IP address cannot be tracked, it is given directly from the ISP
for static users, the same IP can be used by MULTIPLE computers if the cable is shared
but non-static (I.E 56k, 28.8k, etc.) they change everyday
