Hey guys, you may notice the server is down. Reason being is that my computer is not great and I am not rich.

Bascally, we need servers!!!

If you would like a GM account, this is your chance!!

These are the requirements to host a server:
1. You MUST have at least DSL or Cable internet! T1 or better would be awesome!
2. The server basically takes up the processing power of a complete computer. So you better have a spare computer to be hosting this on; either that or a really nice computer!
3. Please; we need servers :lol:

NOTE!!!
There is also a 2nd way of hosting a server:
Get together with a friend. Each of you will host part of the server:
One will host the character server, while the other will host the map server ^_^

i could host but im in australia...
512kb cable modem allowed on ALL day

2.1ghz comp and upgrading after x-mas :lol:

oh adding to my post... some of my friends that play in aust with my such as philip or danze might help me

and i do have two computers so i dont think hosting will be much of a problem once i beg my mum enough :ph34r:

. yeh ive great news. im changing my cable plan to unlimited downloads, but after i use 10 gigs the speed is going to slow down to 64k speed -_-

, but still its good enough and i can help my friend vampire = anthony to keep the server up

i could host a char server, but my computer isn't all that grand

i personally think yare is better if we're in such desperate need of servers (geez i say yare is better a LOT, guess i just <33 yare XD) anyway.. because doesn't yare use less memory or something than athena/freya? that's what i heard from ruri the other night.

I could mabey hold a temporary server(like when crono is down or something..)? My computer isn't grand, but I have cable internet connection.
Uhmz.. Specs are (not great but)

1.70 Mghz
256 mb RAM (Possibly upgrading later?)

Not sure about my bandwidth tho... (cm do you have like an esitmate how much a server uses?)

Well i have a working(with some bugs (working on)) YareCVS server(with 2-2 jobs but not skills)
but im behind a firewall so i can't realy work untill my dad says he'll make a DMZ (dematerialization Zone or somthing like that)
so that the other computers dont get hacked(hes paranoid like that)

yea i just bought my alienware pc today and i would like to host a server andrew. befor u switced from yare kira was sappsoe to host a server mayb me and him can split it up my specs are
Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz
512MB DDR SDRAM PC-3200
2 80GB Seagate Serial ATA 2MB Cache
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra 128MB
and a cable modem also my pc should be here in a couple of days

Would it be possible to get hosting from somewhere? No direct access to the computer, and bandwidth is usually limited. But $100 bucks a month is nothing. You could probably make that with donations. I don't know what kind of system usuage the server software takes up, but it might be possible.

I'm sure you've already givin the idea thought, but maybe if enough people agree to shoot $5 bucks your way, it might become reality.

That'd be nice, but I'm trying to keep this as a Free RO.
If anyone wants to host a server, though, you need to contact me in IRC or AIM, etc., not just in the forum.

ok tell me where to get the software for a map server and ill try get one up for you guys
im shoure i can run it more or less 24/7 and still have enough bandwith to play games like SWG

im running a not so bad 1ghz cpu with around 600+ megs of ram :/
i never switch me PC off and always leave my TS server running but its not used as much as it was when JK2 was in its prime

That $100 a month server idea COULD work...cuz all you would need to do is ask for donations. lol...

But heres the thing: The more you donate...the more GM stuff u get! (ie $10 = kick peopl, $25 = summon monsters, $50+ = all.)

I think THAT would get people to donate money fast...lol...but of course, you would have to change money/GM powers from the list I made...cuz that was just an example.

personly if i could afford it myself i would get myself a 10mb pipe and run a few game servers

but if bandwith prices come down i may upgrade to 2mb or more

ok i seem to get lucca up and running but cant connect to it also i see a patern forming where lucca is up but crono is down and vice verser
could it be the login server only letting 2 char/map servers connect at any one time, well i need help with server connections soon if anyone can help

Im...not sure Ill be able to host a server on that (considering it will be the ONLY computer I got then...) but when I buy the parts/build it, Ill see wut I can do

hey CM i cant host server b/c we only have 1 PC. But i can donate possibly a lot of money for u ^^. If u need a donation coujnt me in and ill give u however much u need ^^ (reasonable price tho no more then lik 250 lol)

me and my friends would like to host a server but we don't know where and how to start. my comp's P4 2.66Ghz, 512MB Ram with 256kbps DSL connection. my friends have better comps than what i have...we're located here in the philippines...

I really wish i knew more about this kinda stuff. I already know quite a bit about Computers in general, but this kinda thing is still new to me. If only i knew how to make a server...then i'd make everyone PAY!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Oh, uuh...i mean... i'd make sure everyone had a pleasant playing experience on my peaceful little server...ahem..*cough cough* <_<

Ummm im not very good at computer thingys but im pretty good with people and i can be very reliable i just need to learn a bit and id be in good shape. ^_^

I have kinda always dreamed of being a GM and i want to make everybody happy but also keep them not begging and all that stuff.

When its just a normal day i can be really nice and be forgiving and all.But when its really important for them to stop i can be pretty good at keeping people quiet

I think it would be a good responsibility and i play qrRO as much as i can so not like you wont be seeing me on or anything! :w00t:

I hope you pick me.I know i shouldnt keep my hopes up but i will at least hope i guess ^_^

I just have some problems with all the confusing #s and all but i think that i think of being a GM harder than it seems.I love challenges!

I know this is a long note but it just shows how much i want to be a GM and right now im thinking that "what if this is too long or if they think im just some bozo" :wacko:

Well before i kill you guys by talking err typing a lot please at least try to think about having me as a GM :angel:

ive got a 2.6Ghz celeron with 768 megs of ram but and im getting a cable modem in a couple days and i could practically run it 24/7 but i wouldnt have anything for me to play it on. but i might consider trying your idea with a split server with my friend. so i donno ill have to look into it

oh yea. are their any other requirments that would be helpful to running it?

Hey Codemaster,

I have a spare computer to throw on a server (or combination of a server). The spare comp is on a Cable Line with 2.0 ghz 512 mb ddr running Xp Pro. Basically the comp just sits there all day/nite anyways (I use it to access my files from work) I don't know exactly how to throw it all together (Setting up RO and Yare etc.) Just need help with that... Get back to me if you are interested.
