Windows 98 is pretty old; Microsoft is going to stop providing tech support for it soon, too.
Perhaps you have a good computer but a bad old operating system?
Hopefully that's case, but still, you might want to upgrade to at least Windows 2000 so you have unicode support and the ability to make files that are larger than around 3.7 GB

meh my friend is still on 95 be gets a blue screen like every 20 mins
