Yes you can play at a lan place and a world pass lets you bring your friends to your server cause you odnt have a choice of what server you get to be on...

The big question : Is it worth the large price tag of the modem and whatnot? I'm a little strapped for cash... Plus I lack an open slot in my filter or whatever that thing is under the computer which makes online play on my BB connection diffic- wait.. I'll just get the PC version and bypass all that crap! Omg... Someone Please Help Me...
I got this game for Christmas... 10 freaking days ago and I still ahvn't gotten to play it, at its full capacity. I'm getting some freakign wierd glitches when I play...
1. I lose all my sound in middle of gameplay and don't know how to retrieve it... (Can't stand playing in silence )
2.When I go to close my game it freezes my computer and I have to make an illegal shut down , and I can't be doing that every time I want to play...

Anyone know how I can fix any og these problems.... Cuz I Really want to play

My comp... might not meet the requirement but I am 90% sure they do...

- 512 DDR Ram
- 40 GB HD (Need to upgrade)
- Win 98 (Yes I Know its sad...)

Anyways... I uninstalled it for now, which I now regret because that means another 3hrs of patching when I reinstall it

you tried getting the latest driver for you sound card? not sure why the game freezes your comp and make an illegal shut down. it says what server you're on at the beginning when you log on, me and speedster are on the server Ragnarok. i dont play it much anymore, im waiting for speedster to help me power level and me to help him power level. The game is really fun been playing for 2 months now, just got charged the 12.95 monthly fee today (ouch)

don't get the ps2 one not worth the trouble (keyboard, network adapter, the new hdd which cost an extra $50), i can give you a worldpass for ragnarok if you want

Even if you do fork out 100$ for the PS2 one, it doesnt include the Network Adapter LOL,. which is 30 $ and sold seperatly. Doesnt make sense does it. So many people are gunna be screwed when they come home wanting to play FFXI on there PS2. Most won't even know they needed an adapter

OK I have nothing better to do so people, lisen up and have fun lol. (Note:: I just wrote an wrote an wrote, I didn't check spelling and this isn't a guide to FF11 xD, just to influence some gamers to check out whis awesome game. I've played a couple months, if you wanna join my server jus gimme a PM, My MSN is Zero922@hotmail.com, do not use that for E-mailing though as I NEVER check it. Also I'll help any of you who want more info on this game ) if you dunno what I spelled...Guess the word..even more fun eh? xD....I'm not spell checking this, even if theres a spell check function I'm too lazy to look for it an use it xD ( IF you want into my server Send me a msg on MSN, I'll get you into my server if you want, an help you a bit, but if i get like 20 people asking for my help and a world pass which enables a player to pick what server they want thennn....I dunno depends on my mood xD.

Cost

Cost is only a small thing when you consider all the things this game will do for you. I swear this game could entertain you for years. It's about 12.95 U.S. You get 1 month of free trial. And its 1$ U.s for EACH content I.D you purchase. The content I.D is basically a slot for your character. if you want 6 chars, you spend an extra 6$ a month. There IS a reason for this. This is a MMORPG, there are over 1 million people using 24 servers on this game. Thats alota Crap to manage, if you could go Character crazy an make as many as you want the servers will be laggy as hell, and nobody would like the game as much as they could. the cost act's as a limiter to the costomer, making the servers more managable. If you wish to play tetra master its an Aditional 1$ a month. I haven't tried TM, but people say its very addictive, but it doesn't affect your gameplay in FF11. I dunno what you guys are thinking, like I used to think if you do well in TM then you can get some kinda item which could go into your FF11 gameplay or you collect cards in FF11 and use em in TM, but NO it doesn't work like that. FF11 is FF11, TM, is TM. This game has an AWESOME management system, called PlayOnline. Its like a program which has E-mail, chat rooms, help forums, You can check your bill there, download Wallpaper, play FF Music, Talk to GM's, Contact GM's, Personalize settings. It's like MSN but like 100000 times better ;; . When you click on the shortcut on your desktop, PlayOnline loads up, you log into your account, and then your in you personal Manager. From there you can access TM, Or FF11, along with all the other things. Basically this game is HIGH class, the servers are well managed, botting is low, hacking isn't even an issue. this game makes you feel high class, yet your a normal person

First of all, to run this game you need Square FF11 check out here.... Square-Enix has recently launched their PS2 part of FF11. PS2 player can check out the req. here ps2 FF11 . Yes PS2 players are mixed in with the PC players. Not only is this mixed but, the Japan players are in the same servers as English players. (My opinion on this? I dunno >_>....their nice ;;; ) anyways...If you are having troubles with the game ( I remember readin somone having problems...) Its the Operating system. Please do not try to run this on Windows98 or I'll jump out of the screen and smack you very hard...Win98 user's your just asking for a world of headaches an problems don't run it on that crap. Best thing is Windows xp Pro, Office, Super nerd Billgates ultra version 10.9 I don't care, WinXP is all you need to help this game run better.
Even though you might have all that and MORE the game will probably still freeze. Common 24 servers over 1 million people, and super high ( even at lowest resolution ) graphics is asking for an occasional freeze. You need super ram for this game to run perfect, I'd say around 700 + benchmark <--- This is the link for the Benchmark. The benchmark is NOT FF11... so don't get all excited when you see it loading lol...but yes this thing grades your computer depending on the mark you get at the bottem of the screen ( when you run it from start to end, takes a good while ) If you get a mark above 7000, then your pretty much set to play this game at its full everything =p . If you have any other problems.....Don't ask me xD....well you could ask me, I'll try my best to help ;;.

Why should I play this game?

1. Theres are many ways to make money in this game, mobs hunting, harvesting, fishing, weaving, goldsmithing, wood-working, and like 20 other ways I forget O-o...
2. There are alot of nice people on this game
3. The Japanese players are nice
4. This game has very nice graphics considerating its a MMORPG
5. The skills are nice and colourful and make a cool sound when you do em xD
6. The magic is Awesome, so many spells O_o. Like 89 for the blm alone...then theres sub jobs O-o ( more on this below)
7. You can make your own LinkShell ( basically a guild )
8. Partying is a must in this game, your not alone O_O xD
9. It's got a good story considerating this is a MMORPG, you cannot make a storyline which revolves around ONE person, It's impossible to have a kick@$$ story like FF10 an FF7 (owns all joo, heheh ;; ) , but none the less it DOES have a storyline, and a pretty good one. but you know? I went throught the game an I didn't ecven notice it O-o. Cuz I didn't go looking for it, was to caught up in the fun =p
10. Unlike RO where many maps are USELESS, almost EVERY map in FF11 can be used
11. Theres many forms of getting around the world like, Chocobo's, Ships, and Airships ( You can actually see the airships flying overhead while your running throughtout the game O-o )
12. The game is very nicely done, such as realism. When you get on a boat, you actually have to wait for the boat, and when it arrives you have to wait 15 to get to the destination. you can move around freely on the boat, and do ocean fishing, or kill the mobs which spawn on the boat ext. This is only ONE aspect
13. The Chars are beautifully made. The faces are just gorgeous, the detail an stuff, mannnn just very eye-pleasing . And you Hentai guys out there...The female chars are coooooooool ^-^;;;;;;;;;;.....hehe >_>...
14. OMFG go play the game I'm going to be here all @#$%ing night O_o. go find the good things for yourself xD

Why this game sucks?

1. lvling is a pain somtimes, as it takes a long time to LVL. But after a while you really don't notice...I was wineing before how long it took...but before I knew it I was lvl 40 Blackmage/Whitemage O-o, so yeh I takes a lil bit to get used to this.
2. this game Depends on Parties...I mean being with others is nice, but you cannot SOLO mobs an expect to get super fantastic exp. You CAN but partying is more efficent. Because of this, you have to spend time finding a party, I'll explain more on this below.
3. Umm The japanese players can be annoying at times...more on this below O-o
4. umm.....Yesh! money can be a real pain sometimes....more on this below xD
5. Bleh I dunno..some of the armour for the MALES make em look like male strippers...>_>....but the females? WHOOO! xD its cool

Starting out in the game:

No is there is no Novice class, you start out as either Blackmage , Redmage , Whitemage , Monk , Warrior, or Theif. When your job (ANY job) hits 30 you have the option to use the Advance jobs. the AVJ's aren't nesscessarily better then the starting job's but they do , do more damage, and are more fun to use, I've seen lvl 75 warriors, an theif runnin around, it's really not that common to NOT see people sticking with the Starting jobs. The short forms for these jobs are....BLM(blackmage)WHm(Whitemage)RDM(Redmage)Thf(theif)War(Warrior)Mnk(Monk)//DRG(Dragoon)BRD(Bard)SMN(Summoner)SAM(Samurai)NIN(ninja)BST(BeastMaster). ALL of these jobs have their perks, and ALL of them can be used and enjoyed, unlike some games where some jobs have no use, and are boring. ALL the jobs are fun . In order to use your AVJ's you need to do the quest for that job. After that quest is done, you can use the Advance job. Another NICE perk to this game is Sub jobs. Your sub jobs are normal jobs but their like a second extra job. Example...My BLM has WHM subbed. MY BLM is lvl 40 therefore my WHM sub job is lvl 20. The Sub job CANNOT be more then HALF of your MAIN job. Therefore With my BLM I can use LVL 20 WHM magic, AND lvl 20 Job Abilities, and job traits. If I got the BLm to lvl 60, then My WHM sub job will be at lvl 30. You MUST do a quest in Selbina, OR Mhaura in order to get your Sub job. By the way you cannot use the 2 hour abilities of the sub job. The 2 hours abilities are Special abilities you can use only every 2 hours ( real time ) They are there to help you out of Sticky situations. For example my BLM's 2 hour ability is "Manafont" This allows me to cast spells without the cost of Mana. So If I had 0 Mana I can still cast spells for 30 seconds ( the time at which the ability last's. This depends ont he 2 hours ability) so uhhhh....What was I talking about...? RIIGHT which job is best to start out with. Yes I would go with WHM , BLM, or WAR. War's are cheap comparativily and they are in high request for parties as you need a Provoker to manage the "hate" ( more on this below ) . WHM's obviously get into parties easy cuz they heal the party an cast helpful spells on the party. BLM's are your Nuker's They destroy the Mob and make them Crap their pants when chunks of their life go "bye bye". It's up to you though, if you wanna make a THF or MNK or RDM it's up to you, their all great fun.

Some things about the game::

Renkei, or SkillChains are when a player along with his/her group time their skills in ORDER to perform a special sequence which does extra damage. You get Weapon skills depending on what CLASS of weapon you choose. Example of this is as shown.....Tachi:Enpi----Wait 3 secs----ShadowOfDeath----!!!Distortion!!! (<----Renkei element, this element is Water/Ice therefore a BLM can Magic Burst for extra damage) ....Yeh this is confusing but if you need more info on this ask me or check out the site I'm gonna list below.

What is HATE?

Hate is what mobs have depening on what actions you take. For example a Warrior cast provoke to make the Mobs focus on him, so that the Whm's and the Blm's don't get hit from the mob. Provoke Cause's Hate towards the mobs, therefore the mob will focus on that Warrior. Now if the Whm cast's a healing spell on the Warrior, then depending on the amount healed the mob will then move from the Warrior an attack the WHM. The healing spell cause's hate towards the mob, making it Hate the WHm more, switching its focus from the WAR to the WHM. The same goes for the BLM if he/she cast a very damaging spell. Thats why WHm's and BLm's cannot spam heal's and spells, the Mob will switch focus from the Tank which has alota hp an def, to them, the Blm an Whm ( an other mages ) which have low def an hp. It's not like RO where whoever target's it first, the mob stays on them. Many things can cause hate, even sitting down to regen mp when a battle's going on will sometime cause enough hate for a mob to switch focus. Its a complex, but very nice way to manage the battle systems functions. This create's alot more stratigy. PM me for more info on this.

Are there agressive mobs?

Yes ofcoarse there are but theres on major diff from this game an RO. The mobs in RO arrgo you by proxicimity, which can also be described by sight range. The mobs in FF11 arrgo you by Sight, SOUND, AND, SMELL. YES SMELL <------- O_O!!!!!!! Which makes it more fun tring to sneak around mobs trying not to get killed ;;;. But this just makes the game more realistic. Some skills take advantage on this. such as the THF's Sneak attack. In order for this Ability to work one must activate it, then attack a mob from BEHIND, causing a 100% critical hit with extra damage. Skills and abilities can also be combined. For example Take the Weapon skill Viper Bite, for the Dagger class, Sneak Attack, and Trick Attack for the THF class. Activate Trick Attack, then sneak attack, then use the Viper bite Weapon skill for Way cool damage. lets say Sneak atack does 100 normally, Trick attack will add about another 100 to that, PLUS the Weapon skill at 100% TP (It can go to 300% TP for extra damage) Will do like 400+ damage. This game basically is complex. BUT easy to handle if your not a dumb@$$ xD.

I dunno what else I can say, I've spent like 2 hours writing all this I know alot more then this am I'm happy to advise anyone . Hmm so It seems to be a good enough game. For most of us who are mmrpg critics I'll have to check it out. Then make a faq on it. But ur right I dont feel like payin 144 dollars a year. I'll wait till CM wants it enough to get it lol. Or maybe I'll try the month version. But I may wait for CM Then try it out
