This whole console online playing is whacked out. When you want to play a console game with other people you have them come over. Thats how I've always felt. Plus console games aren't as adaptable as computer games. As an example you can't make new maps or mods for a console game like you can for a computer game. Mods are what made half-life the cow it is.
