It deals with motion sensors and it is shaped similar to a remote control (so that non-gamers can easily get into it).
How it works is let's say you are playing Zelda. You can move with an optional additon of an Analog stick and when you swing the remote-shaped controller to the left, Link will slash his sword to the left - very nifty-sounding.
Now, for those who dislike the new controller, here's something for you: you can use a normal Gamecube controller! On the top of the console, you can simply plug in an old GameCube controller and use that instead of the new motion sensor ones.
