Half-Life 2 Mod
(Completely Free & Always Will Be)
I've been playing Dystopia since the first public beta years back, I can safely say it's my favorite FPS and I play it almost obsessively. If you have HL2 you should check it out, there's no better mod out there and will remind you of the good 'ole HL1 days where a community was built upon modding. What I love about Dys is that it's not a spray-and-pray game like Day of Defeat: Source or a game where mastery of a single weapon is key like Counter Strike. The balance is great, there's a variety of load-outs which you can create, and, best of all, this game requires THOUGHT and TEAMWORK. As a result, all of the CS-Tards hate Dystopia. The community is small, but full of cool dudes. No 13 year olds flinging racial slurs at you via mic like Halo 3. There's even a training server to help newcomers learn to play. I'll gladly teach anyone here how to play, it can be confusing at first, and I'm pretty pro.
SO WHAT IS DYSTOPIA?
Dystopia is a team-objective-oriented first person shooter with cyber-punk themes.
There are two teams. "Corps" and "Punks". Usually the Corps are defending while Punks are attacking.
You choose to play one of three classes. Each class gives you an option between four unique weapons, and a series of "implants" which are like special powers.
Each class also has a special meele weapon, a special grenade, and a machine pistol.
Light:
The Light plays a sort of specialist role. They're quick and poorly armored, but have the ability to use the most implants, including some powers unique to their class like the ability to stealth. The light wields a Katana and three EMP grenades, which 'scramble' other players, preventing them from using any of their abilities (as well as fucking with their screen and audio to hilarious results).
Medium:

Mediums are more of the grunt class, using rifles, automatics and even an electric tesla gun. They carry frag grenades and a heavier version of the katana. They usually work as the main fighting force or play support roles such as medic to the other players. They have most of the implant abilities open to them, but can only carry two or three due to their heavier armor.
Heavy:

The heavy is a big badass robot with big badass weapons like miniguns and rocket launchers. He can't deck and doesn't have much room for implants, but has an ass-load of health and packs a powerful punch. The heavy sports "Spider Grenades" which are...little robot spiders that can follow enemies and blow up on them. Instead of a sword they punch with their fat metal hands, often taking off the heads of their targets. (I should mention the gibs in Dystopia are -amazing-, better than TF2 even.) The downside of the heavy is that he's slowwwww.
Deck?!?!
Dystopia features dual-world game play. Winning usually involves players fighting over certain objectives in both "meatspace" and "cyberspace". Cyberspace being a Tron-Like world with it's own weapons and dynamic that I won't even begin to go in to. HACKING IN THE FUTURE!

An image of cyberspace.

Image of meatspace.
The objectives range from hacking security systems to disabling shields to blowing up cores to teleporting hostages in statis cells to safety. The game is not lacking in creativity. Oh, forgot to mention. Dystopia is the only mod I've seen with an In-Game Mp3 player. They also have their own soundtrack created by the artist Bioxeed, which is the sex. Lastly, there's a global ranking system which includes a nice stat database and achievements. You can take a look at mine here!
